I'll be powering them with an 850W amp, with the three I suspect you could play 20 hz test tones at 110 db.

In a room, especially in a dorm room, 120db @ 20hz shouldn't be a problem

You could do what one of my friends did, he played Bounce from SOAD (System of a down)... over and over and over and over............. you get the picture. He borrowed my 180w 10" Home theatre sub and played it through that and hs comp. speakers. If you have ever heard the song, you'll understand.

well, the convenient thing is the bridge goes over a huge gorge making it a very convenient spot for suicidal college kids.

What exactly is your "residence" ? Dorm room ? Apt. ? If it's the latter, get a house ASAP. If it's a dorm room, that's what the RA is for.
