I like this option but I don't want to use it on my system drive because it always freezes for a couple seconds when it's starting back up. Is there any way to disable the powering off for the system drive? Maybe a program that reads from the hard drive every couple of minutes? (although it seems like there should be an option for it in windows)

Control Panel\Performance and Maintenance\Power Options Change 'turn off hard disks' to 'never'.

Yeah I know that, but I want to set it to "never" only for my system drive and to "after 3 minutes" for the rest of my drives. The control panel seems to only let me adjust it for all of them or none.

Oops, sorry about that, didn't catch that you wanted to do this per drive.
