The Bush adminstration had expected an approval from Turkey, a NATO member and historically strong U.S. ally. In exchange, Washington promised $15 billion in loans and grants to cushion the Turkish economy from the impact of war.

Well I think that to expect the Parliament to go against the overwhelmingly popular opinion against a war with Iraq is being foolishly optimistic.

Anyway, the Turks wanted to send 120,000 troops into N.Iraq to dick with the Kurds. Now we can tell them they can't.
