Turkey has decided not to send peacekeeping troops to Iraq, government officials have said.
It follows fierce opposition from the US-appointed Iraqi Governing Council and public opinion in Turkey.

Last month, the Turkish parliament approved a deployment motion, after the United States, a fellow Nato member, requested more foreign troops.

The Turkish foreign ministry said Turkey would still play a key role in Iraq's post-war reconstruction.
probably for the best since they arent exactly welcomed by the locals

As I predicted two weeks ago. I'm fond of interpreting facts to predict the future. This isn't a special skill or brilliance, it's checking sources outside the US. Reading the Turkish papers made the prediction a no brainer. What is more important in my opinion, is that Turkey has a very, very strong interest in having something to do with the outcome in Iraq. The fact that they have decided not to send troops is a signal that they think we're sinking. And they're in a position to know. The US does not have the skill or the resources to manage Iraq.

Boy you like to pull conclusions out your ass right? First Turkey says they will send troops, then the Iraq Council says they dont' want Turkey in the country, then Turkey votes and says if Iraq doesn't want them they won't come, then they announce that they won't go. From this you draw the conclusion that Turkey has decided that Iraq is a failure. Great conclusions!

Nah, Rahvin. I pull the conclusions from the other end. It takes a little thought though. First hint: Ignore the news releases put out by the administration -- any administration. The fact is, I'm right. Also, I predict that Iraq will be a third world country with a lousy, crooked government when we leave. What do you pridict, oh Sage?
