Never use this service. They don't care about you in the least if you do.

My mom makes under a specific amount so TurboTax allows her to file her federal and state taxes for free. Great huh? Nope!! We filed her returns a week and a half ago. I waited until both federal and state returns were accepted electronically. I went to print her returns today for her records. I was able to print the state return and confirmations for both federal and state acceptance BUT it will not let me print the federal return. It says that my mom has to pay to print the federal return for her records. That is just BS.

I talked to a "customer service" agent and she told me to go ahead and pay then Intuit would refund the charges. I will not go down that road. They refuse to fix the problem without my mom paying. They can't try to say the require payment for printing because I used the samething to file my returns this year and I printed my returns without a problem.

I just can't believe they won't just go and fix the problem so I can print the returns for my mom.

same thing happened to my girlfriend. It was a good thing i had make paper copies of everything. It is a bug in their system that they do not want to fix.

They sure as hell aren't getting my mom's money. I will tell her to contact the IRS to get a copy

I used TurboTax for the web last week, and I did not have any problems printing out either my state or federal returns.

I did 1040EZ if that makes a difference.

Like people have said, I think it is a bug because on my returns I had no problem.

The difference is that I did not file my state returns electronically because I have to file in two different states. My mom filed both federal and state.

What happened is that I went back in to check electronic status and the federal was accepted but the state wasn't. It asked if I wanted to print the federal or wait. I picked wait because I figured I would print it all when both state and federal were filed. I think that was a mistake but shouldn't cause a problem because it allows me to start right back at that point to let me print the confirmations and state returns.

I go back today after both have been accepted and it wants me to pay just for printing ability. It isn't asking for money to file just to print returns that have already been filed and completed. The customer service rep tries to act like this is normal and isn't an issue. Since I have used the service I know it is BS.

I just hate companies that will not help you and only want to take your money. Yes they say they will give a refund but I have no proof they will do that. They are already going back on the word saying my mom can use the service for free.

WTF?

They let you use the service for free... Then you go to do something and it asks you to pay... you complain, and they offer to refund your money, and you still badmouth them?

Sounds like good customer service to me.

You don't have that problem if you pay for the service initially.

At least she got to file without any cost to her.

Here's a situation where you can do one of two things:

1. Be pissed because she didn't print it out when it was initially completed and now must pay to go back and print it.

2. Be glad that she filed her necessary returns for free.

I'd pick #2...but that's just me.

You have trouble reading. I am using the service for free. They offer it for free for people who make less than a certain amount. Along with H&R block and lots of other companies. They offer the service for free so that they can try and sell you other services. Printing is included for free.

Got that??

Ok everything related to tax returns is done. Now they WANT TO CHARGE MY MOM. They want money from my mom just to print the federal return. Everything is done for tax purposes, my mom just needs copies for her records. They want money to print the returns. BUT if I am nice and pay them $30 to print the returns they "SAY" they will refund the charges. This is not customer service. They need to fix the bug. Why should I pay $30 to hit the print button and have them refund the money????

This would be the same if Hotmail let you send email for free and offered printing of your email for free then you send and= email but they hold your email hostage until you pay to print it.

Well you kind of need to keep records of your tax returns. I actually handled the whole situation for my mom. I did her taxes for her. I also did my tax returns. So just because a company offers a service for free it shouldn't matter that they are screwing you over?????

I had no problem with my return, only with my moms. How hard is it for them to just let me print a PDF document?

There is a REASON why I didn't print the return once I electronically submitted it. Sometimes there are errors and you have to correct them. I was waiting until it was accepted to print.

Wow after three agents I got someone who knew their ass from a hole in the ground. All they had to do was return the return. He knew of the problem and apologized for it. He also agreed that the agent asking me to pay and get a refund was totally incorrect. He also stated that getting a refund could have been a problem.

I just filed my tax return and had the same problem. Apparently you need to go through the freedom tax program page every time or else it won't deduct the fees.

I stayed away from Turbotax this year. Instead I just picked one of the sites from the IRS website that offered free filing. Ended up with Taxslayer.com. Free and fast, exactly 7 days to get my money.
