Is it just me or is turbotax.com pretty much unusable? I can sometimes get signed in but nothing seems to work right and its dog slow.

Thanks, I was begining to think it was just me. This happens to them every year, you would think they would be prepared for this, they kinda get all year to prepare.

It is only free if you make jack crap and dont itemize or have any stock/bonds/rentals etc. I paid $70 for mine and my parents will pay about $40 for theirs.

Yeah, wow. I finally got my 1098's and I wanted to finish up my taxes (started on Saturday). Guess that won't happen tonight.

Because I like the software, its easy to use and I hate installing the executable version, usually less painful to use the web based version. I pay them $xxx and answer the questions and they do all the math and checking on tax law etc for me.

Not to be an ass, but now you know not to use a web interface for such things if you want to spend the money. You of all people know what it takes to do that on the back end/load balancers/applications.

Its the same product as the exe version and typically it works well. Plus I have the added perk of not needing to clean this years version off my pc when I'm done. That and they keep a copy of my previous years records in case I lose in a fire/plain lose the copies I print.

Not everyone needs to pay an accountant hundreds to wait around getting their taxes done.

Yeah, in the past I've always heard online reports of that being their server meltdown time, but I'm guessing since the 31st was the last day for W-2 to be mailed people are just now getting them and scrambling to get them filed.

Yeah, people who are owed money. If you owe money, you have reason to wait.

I never owe so I dont worry about it, I pay in a little extra also and just consider it my 0% interest forced "new rig/home improvement" account.

In the last couple of days, people received their W2s so they could file.
W2s are supposed to be sent (not received) by the end of the month.

Payrolls usually give them out on the last Thurs/Friday of Jan if they do not get mailed.
