Any estimates on how long it takes to get a return back? I just sent my rebate forms in today for Federal+Quicken Basic and State.. thanks in advance..

I was looking on the Staples website, and found a deal stating if either 1) TurboTax Basic, 2) TurboTax Deluxe, or 3) TurboTax H&B were purchased, the following four software titles would be free..

- VersaCheck 2001 CD (free thru Staples)
- Bill Center Home 200 (free thru Staples)
- Intuit Quicken 2001 Basic ($30 mail-in rebate from Intuit)
- TurboTax State ($30 mail-in rebate from Intuit)

At this point, I am wondering a few things. What is the difference between TT Basic and TT Deluxe? If TT Deluxe comes with one free TT state already, what's the point of getting it free again? If those are the same, I would just purchase TT Basic for ~$20 and get the other titles free.. thus taking care of my federal and state taxes for this year. (TT Deluxe, on the other hand, costs ~$40.. twice as much as the basic version) Considering I will probably get a refund, it isn't a big deal to try and find a Staples coupon to get more money off.. and besides, I don't think I see a lot of those $x off $30-$50 printable or internet coupons around anymore. Are they getting cheap on us? Hehe.

Anyway, just wanted to make sure this is a decent deal in my case..

I did a quick scan and didn't find this but I just thought that I would let people know that they can go to Turbotax and do the 1040, EZ and most states online FOR FREE if you make below 26K (I think).

It will walk you through answering a bunch of questions and then it will fill out your forms for you and will also e-file!!! I have used it 2 years in a row and have had great luck with it. PM me if you have any questions about it or just go there and try it yourself. They don't ask for any billing info until the end (and then only if you make over 26K).

I don't mind using TurboTax for free, but what I'd like to be able to do is have all the tax information I enter stored onto my computer rather than have it all saved online.. this way I'll have my information ready when the next tax season comes around. I could fit under the 26k easily or just file online, but I just prefer getting the software so it's all on my computer. Hmm...
