Turbotax Premier looks like it bottomed out right around turn of new year.

Any reason to get the deluxe version over the basic? I'm a home owner and only bought and sold one set of stocks this last year. Is the basic version so lacking where I cannot report mortgage + stocks?

Costco has the same prices.

Any version of turbotax will let you fill out the raw tax forms. Basic will not guide you through deductions or stock sales. If you want the wizard, you need premier for the stock sales.

^Thanks for your answer, sciencewhiz.

Still trying to decide whether the wizard tool is worth it.

If you must use TurboTax then this is probably a good deal, but I've been using TaxAct for years and it's much cheaper. The deluxe+state (with federal e-file) is $22 for the downloadable version, even cheaper if you are willing to file online.

I came in here to ask if the Amazon download would be cheaper than the usual online cost. Guess so, thanks

I also feel like I need to try other cheaper options as well. My taxes are pretty friggin easy, especially on the federal side. Not enough itemized deductions to get above the standard deduction for a single person. The state stuff is slightly more complicated as I get deductions for my rent, auto registration, and a couple other things.

You can't really beat TaxAct for cheap if your taxes are simple. I unfortunately am one of the people who MUST use TurboTax so I will be watching for more deals (can probably do better than this).

Does TaxAct include the ability to do stock tax calculation? I could do my calculations myself but I'd rather that the program do it first and I double check it.

I forgot if this is still true, but I think Turbotax let's you go through most of program, does calculations (you can probably use it to calculate and double check your stock trades), but asks you to pay right when you want to file (I don't think they let you print anything out until you pay also).

Tried taxACT and the federal side is the same as TurboTax, but it's not getting near the state return that TurboTax does. It's missing the $111 credit that Indiana residents get this year, and another small chunk that I can't explain.

Please confirm the process, i assume it entails buying for the regular Target price then going to Customer Service for a refund of the difference. What proof did you have to show?

Now, when consumers purchase an item at a brick-and-mortar Target store only to find the same thing online for less within seven days, Target will match the lower price. Customers can also request a price match prior to their purchase.

good job Target. hope others follow this tactic as well.

I'd report the issue to them then - they do issue updates for the software as the tax season progresses and it's still very early, so it seems likely they will fix it.

I switched over from TurboTax to H&R Block At Home several years back. AFAIK the two products have similar capabilities and look-and-feels.

Amazon has the H&R Block At Home (fed+state+5 free fed e-file) for $29.95 (with media if you choose). That's $10 less than the TubroTax download.

Two weeks ago I jumped on this when the Amazon price was just $23. Unfortunately the forums were down at the time and the price jumped to $29.95 the next day.

Ya we missed the $23 but got it for about $27.60 with the price match.
