Link @ Costco.com

Thought this was a blazing deal until I saw shipping was $10. It is still $5 cheaper than Amazon but I would only call it it warm.

UPDATE: This is actually not hot at all. TurboTax charges $17.95/return to eFile your returns if you use their desktop app. It is free (included in the price) when using their online app.

Ultimately it will cost you $35.90 to eFile a federal/state return plus $35 for the desktop software (from Costco)... $70.90 total... If you do everything with their online product it would only be about $60.

UPDATE2: It is available at B&M for the same price as their web deal IF you have their mailer coupon. That is a an ok deal because you can get it out-the-door for ~$22.

Yeah, I thought the deal was really hot but the shipping kills the hotness a bit.

I have used TurboTax online for the last 7 years and decided to switch to this edition after seeing the online price.

The good news is you can export your previous year's online tax info into this version.

Go to the manager at the checkout and ask for the coupon book. They told me they don't mail it out anymore. The price in the B&M AC is $20.99 + tax. Put it on your calendar for Jan. 14 every year.

No it's not.
There are boxes that are marked to have efile included but not the costco ones.

According to the TurboTax website their Desktop app does not include eFile.

Another gotcha... On the main TurboTax page they don't list their "Basic" version. I stupidly clicked the "Deluxe" link and started my return only to realize their "Deluxe" version isn't the one I normally used (cheapest). I tried to downgrade to Basic.

After an hour on the line with tech support they finally told me you can't downgrade versions and that I would have to create a new user ID which means I can't import previous tax info automatically. Ugh... You have to be kidding me. I asked for a supervisor while searching for the answer myself. I found the solution in a blog someplace and it worked, not only that but it allows you to get their Basic version for $9.99 instead of $14.99. The best part? The supervisor COPIED AND PASTED the blogs instructions to me after about 30 mins on hold!

I loved TurboTax but their service and product have really gone down the drain.

It really pisses me off that they charge extra for eFile considering it is easier for all involved.

I might just do them by hand this year :)

New price at Costco B&M (at least today in Austin) is $31 minus $15 coupon that the cashier will scan at checkout (if you ask). No free e-file as far as I can tell.

Hot enough for me to make the trip to Costco.
Thanks, binister.
Course, I need several other things, cough, cough.
(5 gallon bucket of cough medicine, apparently. :D:D:D)

$15 off coupon is automatically applied w/ Free shipping now. Just ordered online for $20.99 + $2.16 tax (MI) = $23.15 shipped.

Best deal on TT I have found online.

TT @ Costco is a good deal if you're only interested in TT. And it does appear like they've dropped the free eFile. Bummer. Then again, I never used it, prefering to send my book via snail mail. ;)

If you like free addons, Fry's is offering something like 20 software apps for free AR with purchase of TT or TaxCut.

Anyone noticed the random prices for TurboTax Deluxe on the web? http://turbotax.intuit.com/
I've managed to have a range of prices of 19.95, 24.95, 29.95, 31.95, 34.95 and 39.95 all for the Deluxe version. Just go there, remove your cookies and refresh the page and see what price shows up. Most of the time, 29.95 shows up, but then every once in a while you'll see the others. Very weird.
I'll have to wait until I hit 19.95 again I guess before I file.

I got my copy for $20.99 with free shipping and no tax. No Costco here in West Virginia. So it's hot for me. Nice find. Thanks

A couple of people can e-mailed asking how I was able to downgrade... I can't find the post anymore but here are the directions I copied from the site. Worked for me:

If you didn't use TurboTax last year or you have not entered a lot of info in TurboTax, you can just start over (go to http://www.turbotax.com) and select Get Started for Deluxe or Preimer. If you used TurboTax last year or you have started to prepare for your return in Home and Business, then here are the steps:

1. If you are currently signed into a product, sign out of your TurboTax Online account.
2. Go to www.taxfreedom.com.
3. Click the Start Now FREE button. (Do not click the "Sign In" link to continue a return.)
4. At the Start Your 2006 Tax Return screen, select Yes, I have used TurboTax Online before.
5. Type your User ID and Password that you use for TurboTax Online, and then click Sign In.
6. From the Check your product choice screen, select the Clear my information and start over using Free File Edition option, and then click continue.
7. On the Confirm You Want to Clear Your Return screen, select the option that says I understand that I will have to re-enter my information, and then click Clear My Return.
8. The Welcome to TurboTax Freedom Edition screen appears, and at this point, your information is still intact. Before we go any further?DO NOT click Continue from this screen or you will lose your tax information. Instead, simply Sign Out.
9. Then go to www.turbotax.com, and select the online product you wish to use.
10. Sign in as a previous user, then at the Welcome to TurboTax Freedom Edition screen click the Upgrade to?. button. This allows you to upgrade to the desired TurboTax Online version (except 1040EZ) and keep the tax information that you?ve entered so far. In addition, you still get to keep your original login information

Thanks binister.

I would like to add that I was in the same boat has binister. I had mistakenly got deluxe when I wanted basic. Basic allows you to still claim mortgage interest, capital gains and losses through stock sales and pretty much every you can do with deluxe. Just the guide me is a little different with Deluxe is all. Not worth it. So, in the end, I would have spent $30 for deluxe, plus $30 for state, not including the discount through Fidelity. Instead, I spent $10 for basic and $10 for state for the same services by following the directions he posted.
This price includes efile for both but you can't get a discount of those rates using the Fidelity link. I'm not complaining about that, because even with the 25% discount on deluxe and state, I would have still been at $45. I saved over half.
