I don't know about newer platforms like LGA 1150&1151, but on LGA 1366 the processor will use boost multipliers when it's overclocked, if turbo boost is not disabled. I assume that's still the case with the newer platforms, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

ill be using the x99 platform with 6700K
That will be an interesting test case. Mind those leftover socket pins. And turbo bins. ;-)

For stability porpoises, I usually disable turbo when going for a medium to max overclock. One less variable.

With a modest overclock, will let the Turbo ramp up. Just as long as it doesn't play havoc with apps that depend on stable DPC.

I don't use turbo boost while overclocking on my 5930K/X99 platform. Just find the highest stable speed at whatever voltage and cooling your comfortable with and call it a day. Turbo boost is good for default clock speeds but kind of useless once you start overclocking. You can set tighter Min/Max values (say 4.0Ghz base clock on all cores and then limit turbon to 4.3Gh) but kind of unnecessary once you've dialed in your overclocked settings.
