I think I'd rather support an american down on his luck than an illegal.
We got enough people of our own to take care of.

the funny thing about cracking down on the southern border is that it makes the illegals who do manage to get here refrain from going back home. used to be, when the border was pretty easy to cross, people would come, work for a season, then go back home. nowadays they don't leave, because it was so hard to get in in the first place.
I heard on the radio that giving homeless persons alochol may reduce crime too!

you have no idea how many "illegals" there are who contribute more to our economy and society then many citizens.
BS. There may be ways they "contribute," but there are ways they don't do sh!t for the economy.
Going by your statement, you can say a welfare lifer contributes to the economy by using their checks at Wal-Mart.

Studies have shown that illegal aliens cost the state of California over $10 Billion per year. Hospital emergency rooms are shutting down because they are being overwhelmed by Illegal aliens that don't pay their bills. My son is currently in 1st grade. His class has over 30 Kids. My wife, who volunteers in his class noticed 12 of these kids have no SS#. Although it not the children's fault, our hard earned money is going to pay for their education in our already overcrowded schools.
President Bush likes to say that they are here to do jobs Americans won't do. The reality is that they are doing jobs Americans can't do because Illega aliens have driven the pay scales down so much that tax paying Citizens can't afford to do those jobs. As an example, the pay scale for construction workers has gone DOWN in the past 10 years becasue construction companies prefer to hire illegal aliens to do the work. This way, not only do they pay them less, but they don't pay Workers Comp & other payroll taxes. The illegal aliens don't pay income taxes and a large portion of the money they make gets sent out of the US. The same thing goes for janitorial companies. I know of 3 legal immigrants who lost their janitorial jobs to illegal aliens.
My parents went through alot to get us into this country LEGALLY. They worked hard and assimilated into this society. We are now all US Citizens. Condoning the illegal entry into this country is an affront to me and all the immigrants who came here legally.
One last thing, Mexico is criticizing the US for it's proposed fence, yet Mexico has been investigated by the UN for the way it treats other Central Americans who are caught in Mexco illegaly.
Sorry for the rant, but this is a very touchy subject for me.
