So much cooler AND SILENT compared to FX60 stock cooling. Max on default voltage with stock was 2.8GHz, this puppy will do over 3.0GHz and 3.2GHz is possible with increased voltage and turning the fan speed higher than the MINIMUM.

It's BIG though. I wouldn't even want to think what would happen if someone shipped a system with one attached to the CPU.

I've heard good things about that cooler. Guess they were all true. Glad it's working that well for you, Dawn.

Unless it was vastly superior to the XP120, I doubt I'll change it till I get an H2O system rigged up, or maybe till OCZ gets their ducks in a row with that phase change unit.

I only have the stock AMD cooler to compare it to. I've been told that's about equal to a XP90. This was installed with AS5 whereas the stock cooler was installed with the provided thermal pad so that could play into the equation also.

Even so, cutting off over ten degrees C is a very good improvement and that's with no noise. :) The noisiest thing in the system right now is the X1900XTX cooler and it only roars when it's being driven hard (i.e. COD2 at 2560x1600, etc.)

Sexy - but i'm not sure how you can tell things quieted down with loud GPU fan on 1900 and case fan you got there?

Well the environment is not the quietest - the B & K shows 95 dBU due to the ship hitting waves. Of course humans don't hear those low rumbles so we use A weighting and that's about 50 dB or so sometimes quieter, sometimes much louder when I'm singing hehe.

That back fan is very quiet - it's a sub 20 fan. Matter of fact they all are. The loudest thing in the system is the X1900XTX fan no doubt. Even at the lowest setting it has a growl - whine to it but it's ok. When it really rips when gaming it's quite the beast getting up near those horrid 5800FX Ultra levels of dustbuster w/NOS.

I'm not messing with that video card though.

there are mixed reviews. xbit has a glowing review of the tuniq, while another site (not sure which one i looked at) said it was about equivalent with the XP90C.

Thumbs up for Tuniq 120 here also. The noise is mainly the side-effect of fan RPM. Thankfully the Tuniq comes with a fan controller - but most modern motherboards support software fan-control for CPUs anyway. It may not be a fair comparison (since Big Typhoon's stock fan spins @1300RPM and Tuniq's fan can max @2000RPM), but the Tuniq even beats my all-time favorite TT Big Typhoon by 2~3C. By far the most powerful HSF I've ever used. (I've used Big Typhoon, CNPS9500, Stock Opteron heatpipe HSF, and the Tuniq)

The only shortcoming with this HSF is, in most cases, it will not move air around memory sticks/PWM on the motherboard, which can and does cause system instability with power-hungry motherboards like A8N32. I strongly recommend additional cooling around the CPU socket area using.. something. ;) This is common for those L-type HSF which generates a sort of wind-tunnel to the back of the case.

Well at the lowest setting (silent) it's nearly 10C cooler than the noisy stock AMD cooler which is supposed to be equal to a 90. Of course the stock cooler used the stock TIM (pad) whereas we used AS6 with the Tuniq. When the fan is cranked up the bottom block is barely warm and the finned part is cold. This (heatsink) was clearly meant to dissipate > 200W effectively.

The motherboard would be destroyed before that happened. I've pulled on it just to see and it's not going anywhere. Dunno if it would survive the toss out the window test that Swiftech did with their coolers a while back. Heh, are they kidding? Of course it would die - it would plunge to the depth of the ocean. ;)

There's a large back plate behind the board that extends past the memory sockets. Additionally the bosses in the case are quite strong.

I would say the mounting reinforcements are the equivalent of using a lawnmower blade instead of a fender washer to mount a TV aerial to eave rafters on a wood frame edifice - if that makes sense. ;)

I would say it does, though I am still puzzling over "fender washer." The last fender washer I saw was a girl scout at a fund raiser, though I suppose if I offered to buy some cookies she would climb up to the rafters and hold the antenna.

My X1900XT fan is quiet at low speed, just a low whir. Only when under load does the thing get noisy.

Please don't laugh at the mediocre cable management. ;)

Heh cable management you've done is far better than in my case.

Holy hugeness though!

I thought my TTBT was big, but damn :Q

Well, looking at that picture the BT is taller, and the same diameter, but unless I had them side by side, can't say for sure. And the article that I read that convinced me to buy the BT showed it as the best in cooling, and this one was also in the article.

Actually, I can comment on that. BT/Tuniq Tower mainly because I replaced the BT with a Tuniq Tower and the TT is quieter (but that's all in the fan). The thing that amazes me most with the TT is not even the idle temps. because they stayed almost exactly the same as they were with the BT..........the LOAD temps. though.....the TT keeps my load temps a good 8C cooler than they were with the BT on the same X2 3800+ at 2.5.
