I currently have a Tuniq Tower 120 cooling my 3GHz Q6600 and it does a decent job in an Antec 1200. If Battlefield 3 warrants a CPU upgrade, I'll likely go with the Core i5 2500K. Would this cooler be compatible with 1155 motherboards and is it still a good cooler compared to more modern coolers or should I buy a more modern cooler? Thanks in advance.

It's still fairly high-end, especially when used in combination with a good fan. If you were to cool an i5 2500K at 1.30-1.32V at 4.5GHz it shouldn't go over 65C on full load. That being said, you will need to buy a new bracket kit, and you'll need to do drilling mods to the top bracket the Tuniq Tower 120 comes with so it can securely hold the heatsink and ensure proper contact with the CPU IHS. If you're willing to do this, it'll cost you around $10 for the bracket max plus the drilling you need to do. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, you can buy a heatsink like a Corsair A50 or Cooler Master Hyper 212+ for under $30. Both should offer similar heat dissipation to the Tuniq Tower 120, with the A50 being somewhat better than the Hyper 212+.

Since the A50 and Hyper 212+ go for around $30, it's probably worth it to just get one of those. This way I can keep my Q6600 rig which is still plenty for everything I do outside of a few games.

Yeah, I think if you have the money it's a better idea to get another one. I frequently recommend the Corsair A50 more than the Cooler Master Hyper 212+, though. It's slightly better at cooling and quieter, and a bit cheaper.

As far as the Q6600 goes, as long as it's OCed it'll handle most things you can throw at it. At 3.2GHz it should have roughly the same or a bit higher performance than a Core i3-2100 in multi-threaded programs.
