Tuniq Tower Extreme

Looks badass, hopefully it'll compete with the TRUE and Mega.

Dude, I think that thing ATE the TRUE and Megahalem.

Interesting that they're using "core contact" technology (HDT). I believe Tuniq and Sunbeam are the same company, so this looks like a combination of the Core Contact Freezer and (obviously) Tuniq Tower. I hope it performs well.

Oh man OP you beat me with this post.

This new cooler looks incredible. Considering the old Tuniq Tower had only 3 pipes, no direct heatpipe technology, this one may again compete for the top spot.

Look for reviews now. It doesn't perform as well as the TRUE.

I believe it. First there is less capacity with only five heat pipes. Second they used the gimmick of direct contact so even less area is available to extract heat from the IHS. For a top tier cooler where the next step is water cooling capacity is extremely important as is placing a good conductor in contact with as much flat pipe area as well as IHS area as possible. This design falters in both crucially important areas!

So, why is this migration to the HDT design if it fails then? Is it only a marketing scam?

it's mostly marketing yea. the design is good if you make use of the whole heatpipe contact area but most people wont. even a phenom 2, with its large socket and thus heatspreader, will just barely fill up the base of that thing. they would be better off going with a base design similar to that of the TRUE or megahalems

Well it's not a scam in the fact that it does work - just not efficiently particularly for higher end systems with large surface areas. If they stuck with a machined base with six bonded heat pipes they'd have a chance of staying in the race dominated by TRUE and Megahalems heatsinks.

It's interesting that no one ever mentions the Thermalright IFX-14. That is probably the #1 air cooler to date.

XbitLabs - IFX-14 #1

MadShrimps - IFX wins

Digit-Life - IFX 14 wins

It's forgotten due to the fact that it does not fit in most installations where all RAM slots are used too! If it blocks a ram slot it's not of use. Additionally the 14 REQUIRES a unique fan set up to come out on top with capacity.

IFX-14 clears above ram slots

But ya it does limit your ability to use ram with taller heatsinks like Patriot Viper series or OCZ Reaper, etc.

CrazyPC has this cooler for cheaper than the TRUE which makes it worthy of consideration for those looking to buy Mega, TRUE and whatever else for $60+.

I was told it would not clear domintator GT. Even then they sent me this Crucial christmas tree looking ballistix stuff so it's low profile. I'll ask to send me one anyways. 😉
