Tuniq Tower and DFI LanParty LT X48-T2R

Hi,

I just bought a DFI X48 motherboard and it comes with a pretty big heatpipe heatsink for its northbridge. I also have a huge Tuniq Tower that I installed on it, and it seems like there is barely enough space between both heatsinks to fit the optional fan on the northbridge heatsink.

Is it a big deal not having active cooling on the northbridge? If so, what fan fits there?

Here's a picture to show the distance between the 2

OK, doh...I can't believe I didn't figure out that the clips could be relocated...I feel like an idiot now...

Thanks though!

btw, what size fan does it fit? Diameter and thickness. No mention of it in the manual or heatsink installation guide.

Test it out without a fan first. I have a feeling it'll be fine.

I don't have the mb so I'm not sure, but it probably takes a 70mm fan. If you do get one, make sure you get a low-profile (thin) one, and put it on a fan controller since it'll probably be loud.

If nothing else works you can get an antec spotcool... Attach it anywhere and bend the neck to move the fan.

I haven't gotten my case yet(Lian Li PC-A7010B) so it's lying all over the floor on the mobo box 🙂

It's hot here, and the northbridge heatsink(NBHS) gets pretty warm if there's no fan blowing on it. However, I unplugged a 120mm fan from my old case and directed it to blow over my HDDs and NBHS and it's not that bad actually.

i believe it's a 40mm fan for the NB

let me know how that Tuniq works... the NB fins are really tall on my X48BT2 and I'm going to start building soon
