Does anybody know where I can find a &#%! Tuniq Tower 120 in stock?

Same story everywhere, "We're waiting for the manufacturer to send more..."

Heh! I guess Tuniq has a tiger by the tail!!!

Yeah, the T-120 is the one for me! It's becoming an obsession trying to find one though...

As far as the Noctua NH-U12 is concerned -- I'm sure it's a fine cooler with great performance -- but it's an aesthetic thing too. Hanging a fan off of those beautiful fins would be such a kludge, you know?

My fallback would be the Scythe Mine, which I can find anywhere, but I dunno... There's something about that thing that bugs me. Plus, it's designed mostly for noise reduction, not mad cooling! I'm not that desperate yet... ;)

Anyway, if anyone knows of a source for these brutes, let me know. Otherwise, I'll have to stay in the queue where I ordered it -- and I'm expecting another month or two of waiting!

Replace the Mine's 100mm fan with a 120mm of your choice and then you have "mad cooling".

Is the tuniq tower better than the scythe ninja? If so, does it justify the $25 price disparity?

According to the Scythe web site, you can use anywhere from a 60mm -> 140mm fan with the Mine, however what they don't tell you is you cannot close the lid on most cases if you go larger than the stock 100mm fan, e.g. the cooler becomes too tall for the case.

Speaking of fans, one of the things that bugs me about the Scythe Mine is how the fan is mounted using a bracket attached to the heatsink base...

To my way of thinking, the whole idea of a tower is to get the heat AWAY from the CPU core -- yet, with the Mine, you have an aluminum gizmo attached to heatsink base with steel screws holding a plastic fan frame in place, with no air circulating over them (side blow design) -- which is hardly optimal for cooling.

The concept at work here, from what I've read, is to provide a sharp looking package, that cools better the original setup, and is virtually noiseless. There's something to said for all this, but that's not what I'm looking for, you know?

Weird, huh? That's the standard "1-3 week wait" I'm hearing from all the sellers...

Thanks for looking! Frustrating, no? ;)

Truth be told, I don't think there's an ounce of difference, performance-wise, between any of the "Great Air Coolers". The Tuniq T-120 and Scythe Ninja both fall into that category, IMHO!

The thing is, the Ninja was designed for passive (fanless) or minimal fan operation, and when you start hanging fans off a Ninja, the 'kludge factor' creeps in. So, once again, it's an aesthetics thing for me...

My dad bought one for me from Beijing and it will be in my hand in a few days. Price is $42. No need to say nowhere I can find it in US. Woohoo :)

Yeah, I've read that the Tuniq Tower 120 has been available, all along, in Taiwan and Hong Kong. I'm starting to think it's one of those deals, like JDM Hondas in Japan, where they're keeping the best for themselves... :|

Weight: 798g (Without Fan)? No thank you. I was in the same boat as you. But then I decided that I didn't really need it, nor want it. Over 800+g on my mobo is not what i wanted! I bet they are great and all but whats a few *c over zalman 9500-at(530g with fan)?

are you going to use your PC or stare at the heatsink with the side panel of your case off? common :disgust:

Are these mutually exclusive activities? I think not!

Ever wonder why 'they' put windows on bread makers, and microwave ovens? Same thing... :)

Because you need to check if whatever you're baking/cooking is done. You're not gonna stare at your CPU watching it meltdown are you?

Heh! Look, I'll be the first to admit, most computers aren't worth a second glance...

On second thought, maybe you should keep that link as-is... ;)

it works for you because your logged in as you. For other people it brings us to our own personal pages... which dont contain your rigs.

also, your core 2 duo's stock speed of 21300 is awful fast. no wonder you underclocked it to 3200 :).

also Im wondering how you managed dual Core 2 Duo E6400's since only Xeon 51XX's can run with 2 processors in a system. But those 21300MHZ E6400s are clearly a special case.

your problem is it says .../mysystemrig.html?id=17072

should be .../mysystemrig.aspx?id=17072

All in all im gonna blame the typos on it being after 2 am :)
