Tuniq 120 to replace my watercooling setup?

i'm having to move and today i drained my cooling system and had to remove the external radiator. i'm thinking what a pita this is and maybe i should go with the Tuniq.
my w/c system's pretty descent:
Swiftech MCP 650 pump
TDX waterblock.
Black Ice rad mounted behind the case (Antec SX 830) with a Swiftech rad box and cooled by a Thermaltake adjustible 120mm fan
5 1/4" bay res.
1/2" id tubing.
My Opty idles @ 40C and have never seen it go above 48C will benching.
i live in Fl. and get's pretty hot with ambient around 80F.
W/C RIG

would it be worth while going back to air w/Tunig?
tia 😉

well it will be more convient using the tuniq air cooler; but your cooling power will be worse. EVERY water cooling setup should beat an air cooler. So if higher temperatures are worth the worth the reduction in hassle the water cooler brings then go for it.

Your temps will def be higher and you therefore might lose some of your overclock.

I ordered the Tuniq anyway. I'll try it out and compare then keep the more efficient unit and sell the other.

If you sell it ill take the rad...... But the tubiq is nice, you should get good results. Just dont use the rear back plate that has sticky tape on it. You will scratch the HELL out of you mobo taking it off.

Unless it is made by thermaltake

correction, EVERY REPUTABLE watercooling setup will beat the tuniq. In your system case, your running a single 120.1 rad?

Lol.... Do this, and i promise you, you'll not be upset. GET A LARGER RADIATOR. 120.2 from swiftech.

I will assure you that you'll drop your overall temp on your comp by 5-10C by doing this upgrade. Your rad isnt ment to handle ocing in the 1.4+ V range.

Dont believe me?? look at the sticky in my sig and look at my opty's load temps on both GPU + CPU. its all tied into water. 😀

dude, thanks for the advice:
Dont believe me?? look at the sticky in my sig and look at my opty's load temps on both GPU + CPU. its all tied into water.
but i'm using it for the cpu only. temps are quite satisfactory for me. i hit a wall with the cpu. it's not caused by temps or voltage or fsb. The Tuniq will work fine without the hassle of liquid cooling.

the rig in the sig is cooled by a single BI GTS120 rad, cooling both the CPU and GPU. my CPU idle temps are 28-30c load 45c; GPU idle 37c load 45c; ambient 23-24c. blocks are TDX for CPU and Maze4 for GPU, pump is Laing D5/MCP655. fan on rad is low speed yate loon; coolent used is G11 pentosin/distilled water 1:9 mix

there are 2 things i recommend doing:
1) it looks like you have 90 degree fittings on both barbs of the rad, correct? if so, i would remove them. those sharp bends kill your flow/head rate and will reflect in your temps.
2) i would flip the fan from pushing to pulling.

i'm a silent freak too so i know how you feel about a quiet pc. yates are cheap and are great fans for BI GTS, thermochill PA120.x and swiftech rads. i would try the above and see how your temps turn out.

good advise aiya24,
the Tuniq is definitely NOT getting the job done. temps are way up w/a smaller overclock and using AS5 compared to the AS3 i was using earlier. this system has been rock solid for over a year, (prime, Pi, etc.) until i moved it 750 miles in the backseat of my car. i lost half my raptor RAID array, my OCZ 520's only putting out 10.6V on the 12v rail and i believe my Audigy ZS gamer succumed to ESD.
i'm going to rebuild it. i got my new 16mg raptor today along with new tubing and clamps (going back to w/c) and my new OCZ 600 Xtreme Gamer p/s should be here in a couple of days. i agree with doing away with the "90 degree" bends to the Rad but haven't quite figured out how i want to go about it.

I think someone in the sell/trade area of the forum was looking to buy a Tuniq 120, if you're interested.
I however have mine on the way, but, now I'm worried. Would you say it did an ineffiecient job all together? Or just versus your WC rig.

bah... you need a larger RAD.

That will fix everything, and give you everything you want.

Top mount the radiator if you dont have room. Have the barbs extend a tad bit behind your case, or seeing how you can dremel.

MAke 2 holes at the top of your case, and have the tubes come down.

Space the rad and the top of your case with bolts.
