Tuniq 120 Rattling Noise/bent heat pipes?

Anybody have this HSF and is experiencing a faint rattling noise coming from the setup? I am pretty sure it is being caused by the HSF.

I was examining it just now and I noticed that on the top plate which is used to secure the fan to the HSF, there are 6 holes for what I presume to be the ends of the copper heat pipes to stick out. However, only 3 of them seem to come all the way through the holes. The other 3 are slightly bent to the side and do not come all the way through.

I thought this might be a bad unit that I purchased; however I was taking a look at the pictures available on newegg, and while they don't have a straight shot of the top of the unit, i could see from the angled shots that some of the pipes do indeed look more recessed in the holes than the others.

Anybody have else have any experience with this?

Hrm...

Yeah, I *think* mine rattled the first time I ran it at full speed - when I first installed it, but...

I've had it apart several times since then. That "top plate" is actually part of a larger fan framework.

If it was me, I'd take it apart and make sure all the screws are tight. Removing the 4 little screws in the corners of the "top plate" will allow you to pull it out... 😉

Here's a snapshot of the Tuniq sitting in my rig.

I have another one, still in the box, that looks the same, sooooo...

Does yours look like this, minus the fingerprint? 🙂

Yup that's exactly what mine looks like from the top

hmm

OK i guess i don't have a faulty one. It's keeping my e6750 nice and cool even at 3.4

I guess I'll just have to live with a faint rattling noise (hardling audible at all actually, but it bugs me)

My Tuniq 120 rattles too, but only if I run my fan at full speed. It could be the vibrations from a fast fan causes the fan holder to jiggle and bang against the heatsink fins. Shrugs, I think I tried to tighten my screws too but I don't think that helped much.
