Tumblr going G-Rate

Many of the tech news outlets reported yesterday that Verizon, the owners of Yahoo, who are the owners of Tumblr, are banning anything even remotely adult ... if you know what I mean. 😉

I always figured the Tumblr model was one based on ad revenue and while the minority of sites were adult-oriented 😉 they probably generated the majority of ad revenue. The ongoing detachment of major corporations from the revenue-generating surfing public is wide to made jumping the Grand Canyon look trivial in the eyes of Evil K. I now wonder why such properties are bought when they just get train wrecked by their new owners.

Who sees a G-Rated Tumblr being anything but a failure? Also, who sees Tumblr's replacement ... because inquiring minds want to know. 😎

I have never opened a tumblr page that wasnt porn, so this "non-NSFW majority" i dont even know what it is.

Gonna lose a lot of buttsecs blogs tho which is a shame.

I use Tumblr exclusively for adult content as does basically everybody I know. It was a good platform for (legal) niche interests.

Getting deleted as soon as this policy goes in to effect.

I thought it was all sparkly animated fan GIFs of buffy and harry potter along with pictures of knitting projects...

This is going to end them, i give them less than 6 months till server shutdown. They may as well have just pulled the plug now IMO.

I actually have two blogs, one comic book/movie related and one..........not.

I've heard a lot of people will be moving to Wordpress. There's even a procedure out there to move your existing blog over.
