I heard through the grapevine from a friend that tomorrow the US Military is cutting tuition assistance programs until further notice. This came directly from someone who is on active duty.

Anyone know anything about this?

In case you didn't notice the news, there is Sequestering going on.

$85 billion in reductions mainly affecting the Military.

Heard about it but not verified. Supposed to be announced tomorrow. Too bad, I was gonna use it in about 3 months.

Good! I know a guy in the reserves who keeps blowing thousands of his GI Bill benefits on those for-profit unaccredited 'vocational colleges' that aren't worth the paper they are printed on. e.g. business management, home inspection, and truck driving. He could've went to Harvard or MIT for two years for what he's (or rather, the tax payers) have spent on nothing.

GI Bill isn't tuition assistance. And its not like its unlimited funds either. Its in a contract so its part of the payment.

Yes. TA is for active duty members who get $4500 in tuition per year. Its all monitored and poor grades require repayment.
