Train roll on, on down the line,
Won't you please take me far away?
Now I feel the wind blow outside my door,
Means I'm leaving my woman behind.
Tuesday's gone with the wind.
My woman's gone with the wind.

And I don't know where I'm going.
I just want to be left alone.
Well, when this train ends I'll try again,
But I'm leaving my woman at home.

[chorus]
Tuesday's gone with the wind.
Tuesday's gone with the wind.
Tuesday's gone with the wind.
My woman's gone with the wind.

Train roll on many miles from my home,
See, I'm riding my blues away.
Tuesday, you see, she had to be free
But somehow I've got to carry on.

[chorus]

Spencer Dryden, drummer for Jefferson Airplane died of cancer at age 66.
Jimmy Griffin, founder of the band Bread, died of cancer at age 61.

That was all I could find.

Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you're in my way
There's too much coke and too much smoke
Look what's going on inside you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
Plain and simple, Skynyrd rocks. :) :)

I've been a fan of Skynyrd's since about 1975. I actually saw their third to last concert in Lakeland FL, I think it was August of '77.

I've seen them twice since then, but it was after Ronnie, Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, etc. were dead.

Before anyone says it, yes, I know Allen Collins didn't die in the plane crash, he died some years later.

I did also see The Rossington/Collins Band, those guys were great!

Sad thing is, the Confederacy was right RE: state's rights.

As long as the federal government exists and has ultimate control, the individual states will end up homogenized to the detriment of all. The country is just too big for a single unified government and set of policies to manage fairly for everyone.

OTOH, the Confederacy ably demonstrated the downside to a confederation of independent states - "national" defense suffers. Militarily, a confederacy *is* weaker than a federal government.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the Confederacy had maintained its independence. Even in the South, slavery was losing support. While the North was ready to abandon it RIGHT THEN, it would have ended even in the South given another 2 or 3 decades. The resulting two...rather interesting...nations on the North American continent would have been interesting to see play out.

Ditto...but I love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Finally saw them in concert at the state fair last summer and it rocked. Then again, that's the only concert I've ever been to (was planning on seeing slayer in VA and APC in PA this fall but...plans tend to fall apart on me). My ex-girlfriend went with me to see them...she wasn't enthused, to say the least.
