I've noticed some other Tucsonans (think that's the right term) here in ATOT from time to time, noticed two others today. Just kinda curious how many here are from Tucson. I'm more curious as to what other's do for fun in Tucson, and if anyone is as tired of the god damn heat as i am. Just post anything interesting you have to say about Tucson i guess. Hopefully if you've entered this thread you are in Tucson or have at least been here at one time, otherwise, there is nothing for you to discuss :p

I've lived here in Tucson my whole life (I'm 20), still struggling to find fun things to do, and struggling to get a job, and maybe looking to find a Girlfriend (then again i'm not really trying).

All i do for fun that's outside of my house is bowl at Lucky Strike, Tucson Bowl, or Cactus Bowl, Golf (usually go to the Practice Tee to hit golf balls, or go to any of the City owned courses to actually play golf), and I play pretty much any other sport if it's not super hot outside. I go to Golf N' Stuff everyone once in while too. That's about it for me.

I used to live there until June 2004. I miss it.... :(
Mountain biking on hte weekends was my poison. I usually hit Fantasy island at least once a week.

Tucson (or South West in general) rocks compared to the muggy POS Virginia.

My parents have lived there for the past year (my family is originally from Phoenix) and we have always found Tucson to be a lousy town to live in.

1) There really isn't anything to do unless you are in downtown.
2) There's ONE frigging highway, so it takes over an hour to get from Tangerine to the university when they are only a few miles apart.
3) Housing bubble, nuff said.

Agreed on #3. Rich Californians killed the market there in 2004 - 2005. It's cooled off a lot since then. They came in and cashed out. Bastards.

I love Tucson, never lived there, but my parents did. As much as I love it, the job market there just doesn't pay.

It seems like most of the 'stuff to do' here is outdoor stuff, but it's so damn hot most of the time you want to be anywhere but outdoors, that's the problem with Tucson i think.

I'm from tucson, and you can do stuff outside just fine as long as it's neither july nor august. 95 is just fine to be outside in. Also, it really doesn't take that long to get across town, just DON'T USE I-10. In most cases, the highway is slower than surface streets. People from CA come and think you need to take freeways wherever your going. But this is a boulevard town.

1) Downtown is dead and has been dead ever since they bulldozed the barrios. Downtown ain't ever going to be anything but dead until someone starts building high density housing down there. No -people -> no point in having a downtown.

2) Spend some time driving in Phoenix. Freeways ain't the answer.

3) Agreed.

Anyway back to the OP:

Hike or drive up the mountains. It is thirty degrees cooler and shadier in the Catalinas, Rincons, and Santa Ritas, even with the burns.

If you have a car then head to Bisbee for the day, climb the stairs.

Head down south 12th and eat at Güero Canelo.

Ride your bike. Go to the botanical garden.

Spend a day at the Desert Museum.

There is probably no better place on earth to live than Tucson if you like hiking. Be sure to start real early.

I was in Tempe last week for business. GD 116 degrees in the day and 103 at midnight. It's insane. I was at a resort so the margaritas and pool helped but damn, I don't know how you peeps do it. Good looking women at the clubs though.

Tempe is a thousand feet lower than Tucson and in the center of the Phoenix heat island. All that pavement keeps the place much hotter than it would otherwise be. Also, the lawns jack up the humidity making it even more miserable.

Tucson in da hizouse!!! ok..i'm never allowed to say that again.

Been here 7 years, played in a few bands here (i have a new one about to debut downtown/congress area in about a month or so).

Other than that, I hit up BWW quite a bit and work quite a bit for a software company that has an office here (it shall remain nameless).

I hate Tucson btw and think it is the bottomless pit in a horrible monster's stomach. Hopefully, my fiance and I will be out of here in a year or so.

Um..why the hell would I want to take 800k senior citizens and college students with me anywhere? Actually, the students can come, but not the seniors. We can't even get a decent transportation system or city going because of them. We have to conserve the Tucson desert. For a bunch of liberals in this area, they sure as hell act as conservative as you can get.
