Tube amp problem

The fuse of my tube amp was blown today, a few minutes after I turn it on, I see a flash of light in one of the EL34 tube and hear a loud pop in my speaker. Then the fuse is blown.

What is at fault, is it the flashing tube or is it something else.

Voltage bias was measure to be within limit just yesterday.

I came into this thread expecting a nude hot blonde with a free iPod. That's flagrant false advertising! 😀

Sounds to me like the tube overloaded somehow. I'd replace both the tube and the fuse, then see if it happens again.

or some NOS GE's. Depends on the amp design, but GE's were ideal in most situations. You only need 2, and it's for HiFi, so why not?? Or better yet put some KT88's in there. I am not sure if KT88's would be a simple re-bias procedure or not in that amp.

http://dougstubes.com has been recommended to me by a professional tube analyst and afficionado because they have a good tester. I have ordered from them and it's all good.

the only 300b tube they have is western electric. 🙁 I wish I had the money for that.
