Tualatin is set to debut on monday.......but.......you're gonna have to pay..............;):(

  • Intel is expected to launch its first mobile Pentium III processors produced using a 0.13 micron process on 30 July - this coming Monday.

Based on the Tualatin core, the mobile chips will debut at 866MHz, 933MHz, 1.0GHz, 1.06GHz and 1.13GHz and ship as the Pentium III-M. Intel will price the parts at $251, $284, $401, $508 and $637, respectively.

However, a month and a half down the line, on 16 September, their prices will fall to $198, $241, $321, $401 and $508, according to a leaked copy of Intel's pricing plans.

In a similar timeframe, Intel is expected to expand the PIII-M line with a 1.2GHz part at $722. ®

You know what is funny? All of them are a waste of money! A 1.4 Tbird will probaly outperform all of those! The 1.4 is only 160$. Why would some buy a Tulatin?

I know that they are all mobile processors, but the Athlon4 is probaly a lot better buy. What about P4 notebooks? When are they going to have them?

Those are mobile cpus, usually priced higher than their desktop counterparts. But even if the desktop versions were $100 less than these, I agree, it's still way overpriced. Looks like it'll be AMD from here on out for me.

The P4 based notebooks won't be available until the first quarter of 2002, after the .13um die shift.

According to Intel......Q1-'02

I have to agree that the Athlon 4 seems to be a better buy at this point anyway!:) I ahve seen B/M previews though that show the Tualatin to be one heck of an O/C'er with some amazing B/M numbers!;) Can't wait to find out how true those numbers are though...........;)
