i got bored of my celery 633 @ 950 and decided to to the mod to a 1.1gig tualatin celery cuz everyone was having fun overclocking these suckers..
well..
did the mod (as on overclockers .. just covered the pins wit ata 100 grey wire.).. and did the voltage modd to the mobo and viola.. it's alll good..
got that badboy running at 1400 @1.7v...
been going on xp for a few hours now.. ima stress test it tonight..
i'm by no means technically inclined but got it to work very easily.. anyone wit an older bx mobo or via or anything that doesn't support the tualatin .. it's a fairly easy mod.. have no fear...
and my system went from about 3200 3d marks to 7000 3d marks..!!!!

Well done! It should also make a very affordable upgrade for others in your position so here is a bump for good info :)

Great job!

BTW, I'd like to check my 3D Marks on my OC'd Tualy machine. Where is the benchmark software for that and what do you run?

I probably could have done that hack to my ASUS P3V4X but, WTH, I got another mobo for pretty cheap and did it.

id' also like to see the insturcions for this mod? and why did you do the wire for the extra voltage on a cuv4x. my cuv4x let's you max the voltage at 1.8v. do i need to do any mods then to put a tualatin celery on it? or can i just leave it like it is and throw the tualatin on?

check

http://www.overclockers.com/tips965/

you have to do the voltage mod for the CUV4X because the default voltage for an asus board is 2.1 volts which will fry the chip..
the voltage mod will set the default voltage to 1.45 v which is the standard for the celery tualatin

this is not necessary on a SLOT 1 board ie BX because you can set the voltage on the slotket adapter which cannot be done on the cuv4x.

Thanks for the info ,handy to know :) ,my 2nd rig is a PIII rig with a Soyo m/brd using the same chipset as the CUV4X.

it makes a very cheap.. very fast upgrade.. it's like night and day wit these badboys.. i can throw down fps wit some authority... lol...
it's not close to the top of the line.. but no longer the bottom of the barrel... and will certainly run any new game out there today when coupled with a competant vid card.
