Ok..
I just bought Thermaltake Volcano 7 (not 7+) and I have a question for you guys...

Oh yeah....
Volcano 7 has that stupid diode on the outside.
I've read some posts that people cut off the diode and connected those two wires together so it always spins on 5000rpms...
Would u suggest I do that or should I just leave it as it is???

Thanks so much guys....

I just got one 3-4 days ago and haven't removed the diode(never heard of anyone doing it, but that doesn't mean much). I suppose if removing it and connecting the wires up like you said, makes it run at 5k all the time works, that would be good if you are overclocking, but if you are not overclocking it would be a waste of time. As you probably know, the diode determines fan speed by the ambient case temp and not by cpu temp, so ya removing it for overclocking is the best way to maximize cooling.

If you are not sure what to do then just short them with a small piece or wire...just strip a small piece of spare wire and twist it around the ends of the wires connecting to the diode. Then it will be fixed at the highest speed. You can always undo this easily if you dont like it.

i would leave it...most likely your ambient case temp. will be high enough to keep the fan spinning close to max. anyway....give or take a few hundred rpm - no biggie.
