I posted last week that I was looking for a reasonably priced HSF for a new AMD system I was building for a friend. I personally have the TT Volcano 9 modded but haven't been thrilled with the results. So, I figure I'd take the opportunity to build in a new HSF with this new system in an attempt to discover something cooler while still using air. I read up on the TT Volcano 10 which is all coper and it seemed to do pretty well.
Here's the box:
Gigabyte K7Vt600
DDR 3200 (512)
Seagate Barracuda
AMD 2500 Barton Core
Ati Radeon non-pro
Antec Slk2600 case
Two Case fans
Stock Antec PS with heat sensing fan
I figure it took a bit for the chip to heat up and seat really well on the die so I rand Sisoft Sandra for about 4 hours last night and the box is burning in again this morning. It looks like Sandra reports temps a few degrees cooler than the MB tool from gigabyte. Under load Sandra reports that we are a very stable 38 degrees Centigrade. The Easytune 4 utility reports the CPU temp at 48 degrees C under load.
So, I'm pretty happy with the TT Volcano 10+ and it's fairly cost efficient for boxes that I am building for peeps. Cost was one of the main factors. I want it to be reliable too because after I build this bad boy, I don't want callbacks saying "it smelled really hot and then it quit workin..." lol!
There it is, any questions?
