The water is about 12-15 feet high in that video. I saw it the other day, and did a comparison of a shop that went completely under water to try and get a height estimate. Doesn't seem unreasonable for that to start getting close to local power lines.

What is bouncing? Phone and maybe power lines. That's a metric shit-ton of water pushing and surging against the poles and buildings. I'm not at all surprised to see the wires bounce a bit.

It doesn't matter how often I see that video, I'm always amazed at the power of the water...and the damage it causes.

It's like driving by a bad car wreck...you KNOW it's gonna be ugly...but you can't help but watch anyway.

Guys, it isn't the lines themselves..but it looks like something is bouncing on TOP of them..boing boing boing..flying into the air and back down about 15 times. Look closely from 3:35-3:50-ish..just above and to the left of the red thing.

Those lines are breakouts to houses.

As houses move, so do the lines.

oops, looks like I am not talking about the lines the op is talking about. never mind then.

That video was incredible

It is an insane video. In the first minute or so when he pans down and the water runs up almost to his feet I was almost yelling at the screen ... "WTF are you doing? Put down the camera and get higher R-tard."

Can't imagine what the people in the white van at the start would think now after seeing that video...

It's amazing how it starts with a dry street and ends with 15ft deep water rushing 20-30 mph down an opened street that's had its houses/businesses washed away. Whoever was filming had some calm nerves to get the shot.

He had the escape route planned out. up the staircase he goes as the water rises.

They probably couldn't drive straight or they hit a roadblock and couldn't keep driving. I believe that driver eventually got caught by the tsunami.

I can't believe he kept running up and down those stairs. Especially after those power lines were bouncing around that metal railing at around the 4:30 point.

I don't think there's any way those lines still had any power going through them at that point. Lots of poles were already pushed and electrical systems had been shorted every way possible.

wow thats amazing. first a trickle of water and then a torrent, and then cars flying by, metal being bent, and finally houses floating by.

i wonder what happened to the white van driver . perhaps he should have bugged out and gotten to the top of the building with the cameraman.
