Ok, granted the Tsunami deal was a lot bigger, but what about the people in Flordia and all the hurricanes? There are still people living in shelters because they now have no home. Small businesses are wipped out and these people are not only in debt from the loans they took out ot start the business, but now have no business to make money. What about in California with the storms and mud slides? What about in Indiana with the Ice storm tearing down trees and power. People's homes are flooded. Why is it that no one does anything to help storm victims inside the US?

A lot of people don't think government should help people, generally.

(And to a certain extent I think Floridians should bear the cost of their disasters. They should either move or pay for insurance. It's not like we don't know there are hurricanes every year).

as sick as it sounds, you will find that americans don't care unless they are being called stingy by the UN. Also it would have been nice to see the Florida National Guard helping folks in FLA rather than killing them in Iraq.

Without helping these victims...many times more will die due to disease and famine.
The US is fortunate enough to have the resources to help themselves.

It's always been like that...the rich pay more and get less handouts.
Even within the continental united states...the rich pay more and they get less handouts...just relate to an international scale.

If you don't believe in welfare...you should cut off those pesky mooching red states
When was the last time they contributed any funds to the blue states?

I suppose my argument more comes from what I've heard in churches. Many where I live want to send people out to outside countries to help out, which is fine and tandy. But, why didn't they say anything when their own community was ripped up. I live in Indiana, where the Ice storms are rare so when we have one, it's major. Most powerlines are above ground and whole small cities and towns were without power. Yet I never heard the churches say anything about providing people a place to stay because they have no power for a week or more. Or helping to clean up the fallen trees out of their yards.

I do agree that Floridians should bear more of the costs, but they don't get 4 or 5 hurricanes every year, one right after another. Not to mention that insurance companies are giving many of the people there the shaft.

I do agree with Countries staying out of helping other countries with storms. The US should donate money to the red cross, and let the red cross do something good with it. I bet half of the money the US spent will have gone to waste. O well

We spent something like 15 or 20 billion...thats not enough? Not to mention citizens here in the USA have insurance...

So what the hell is your point if you support the US giving aid?
I don't see floridians dying or suffering in a disease ridden state.
Are you just complaining about the world not helping in florida?
What is the point of mentioning the Tsunami?

I honestly have no idea what your question or point is.
Maybe you should cruise the forums a bit before you post topics :)

Just to mention. When the US does need help, Canada has been happy to help.
Remember the really dry season in the US one summer?
Canada was right there aiding in your efforts to fight the forest fires and save lives.

Fact of the matter is most things were insured and do you really feel that hard up that you need to ask the world for welfare?

I believe I see where you tried to go with this.

The bottom line is not enough regular Americans are suffering to make it hurt the Rich so you will not see anything, yet.
