I was doing some research on my TSP account and saw that since May 2008 the I Fund has gone from almost $24/share down to $14/share. That is by far the largest decrease from all of the other Funds.

I was wondering if I should change my contributions from buying from the other funds and buy more of the I Fund since it was the most expensive fund only a couple months ago. I look at this as a bargain - getting it at 60% of the price.

The drop in the I fund, also its rise, was due to the dollar. The US Dollar went down so international stocks went up. Now that the dollar has got a little stronger the I fund has dropped.
I got in the I fund about 40% myself. If you think overseas will do better and/or the US dollar will drop then sure jump in. If you think the dollar will jump and/or overseas will not improve any more then the US then go for the C and S fund.

I think I have 40% I, 40% C, and 20% S right now.

Yeah I was thinking that overseas will eventually start to pick up. I think the dollar will continue to have its ups and downs until the economy starts to stabilize. I was thinking about doing 50% I and then just mixing up the rest but wanted to see what others thought.

Ahhh... yea they do... for FERS people.

1% is free, put in nothing get 1%
Next 3% is matched 3%
Next 2% is matched 1/2% each

So in the end put in 5% get 5% matched.

Fuckers, Army got nothing. :( Oh well, i took my contributions out lump sum when I got out. I might put a very small percent in TSP when I re-enter the Army as kind of a bonus retirement.
