I heard yesterday that the TSA had plans to set up operations at all mass transit. It was said during a radio interview that I only caught part of. Has anyone else heard of this?

Haven't heard anything, but if so that's gonna be ridiculous. And where exactly are they going to get the money to be stationed at every train station, bus stop and cab agency in the country? I doubt it'll happen.

I agree, stupid beyond belief. But just because something is stupid, impractical, expensive, unwanted and unnecessary, doesn't mean it isn't going to happen.

Every TSA agent that is employed at a bus depot is a job that is providing economic stimulus to the area, boosting the greater well-being of the community.

Therefore TSA agents everywhere is a good thing.

So your cure to the unemployment issue would be to just give everyone worthless government jobs without raising government revenue?

I couldn't fathom any agency attempting to search or scan every single person getting onto a train/subway/bus in the entire NYC metro area.

Some blogger once said for every dollar we give in economic stimulus to the common folk, government earns back $1.30. We as a nation cannot afford to _not_ employ TSA agents everywhere! :D

The Government probably can't either but that sure as hell doesn't mean they will try and tell you to suck it up anyway.

Silly federal government - they blew their opportunity! When that retarded kid in Portland decided to blow up a lot of people, they should have suggested to him, "how about a train! Or a bus? Or, how about we blow up a bus as it crosses over the train tracks only a minute before the train gets there!"

On another note, I passed an Amish buggy today on my way home. Their horse seemed to be walking just a little weird. I think it might need a full cavity sear

Silly me, they've already got their heads up there.

The federal government is nothing but a giant jobs program at this point. Unfortunately, those jobs produce nothing of value to anyone in this country - it's just millions of people being paid to push paper around. The largest Ponzi scheme in the world can only exist because its "investors" have no choice but write checks to support it or go to jail.

hopefully now that obama is in charge the teapartiers and republicans can join with a lot of us and try and change this system by giving us our rights back. I could probably dig through these very forums and pull up every conservative here spouting how we need the patriot act.

See, here's the difference: terrorists involved in bombing plots against the U.S. I want their heads dunked in water. I don't want grandma groped at the airport.

Obama and the Democrats have done nothing for the rights of citizens. TSA has been expanded, the Patriot Act continues... they have paid lip service to it as usual, and not done anything good for our rights.

They have sorta been doing it already but staying low key and definitely not all public transportation. I think they are called viper teams or something.

So low Key there are no Links about it? :\

edit: Oh, you mean These guys. If that's what all the angst is about, y'all like 5 years late.

while this probably isn't happening now, i wouldn't be surprised if the people in charge had at least thought of it. there are plenty of us here who point out that security will follow us to train stations if high speed rail ever gets here.

You won't pull up anything with me supporting the Patriot Act.

Obama has been in charge for nearly 2 years and has done nothing to "give us our rights back" and instead, has backed many of Bush's dubious policies. All I've heard from the left are excuses "But...but...the Republicans made him do it!" I have zero faith that the Democrats or Republicans have any interest in giving us any of our rights back and in fact, will seek to take more away.

If there is a TSA agent patting me down at the light rail station, and discovers my legally concealed firearm that I have a right to carry on that shitty train/shitty bus route, I am going to kick him square in the balls. Likeliness of this happening: Slim, the RTD already has its own police force (wackenhut rentacops) who don't give patdowns but are a better choice than the TSA. Also, I think our "public transit" in Denver is actually privately owned, but funded with tax money? Or maybe they contract it out (drivers and such), I don't really know.

Although, I did hear they were going to be at Union Station and the Greyhound stops in "roving teams" that randomly show up and do searches at train/bus stops
