TSA Encounter: Don't 'Touch My Junk'

(Nov. 15) -- A California man got thrown out of San Diego's airport when he refused a revealing full-body scan and then an alternative pat-down, telling a Transportation Security Agent, "If you touch my junk, I'll have you arrested."

John Tyner, 31, said he was told he could face a civil lawsuit and a $10,000 fine for leaving the screening area before the security check was complete, according to news reports and his blog.

but to threaten arrest? i'm not sure that would fly. not to mention facing a lawsuit and $10k fine? thats bullshit.

I think its BS they are saying they could charge him. If TSA has a problem, tell him to leave.
Seems TSA is hoping they can threaten people enough they will back down. I am glad he, pilots, etc... are fighting this.

Actually if you read the full story you would see he looked up that this airport listed they do NOT have these scanners. When he got there they did. So he went out of his way to check first but the website did not update the information correct.

i'd like to know what this was all about. so he declines the scan and says no to the groping and says he just won't fly. police escort him out of the area. so are they saying - scan/grope and fly or don't fly and get sued and fined?

I think that the idea that he can be fined is complete bullshit. If he decides not to go through with the full body scan and personal violation, then he should just be allowed to leave. If me or my wife were "subjected" to this, I would simply walk out of the airport and demand that they refund me my ticket. From there, I'd promptly rent a car and get to driving.

I guess they're leaving the only option as driving in the first place.

It's sad and scary when you see all your "rights" as an American being pushed under the rug in the name of safety isn't it? I mean, I get it, but they have no right to force men and women to be felt up and violated in the name of security. It's disgusting and completely the opposite of what this country is all about.

There was a news story last week (don't know where I saw it) about a woman and her 2 daughters(8yrs and 20 months) that opted out of the scanner. The male tsa agent cupped her breasts and genitals. And then wanted to do the same to her daughters. She was able to get a female officer to do it instead. WTF? Pedobears applying for the tsa in droves.
