I would hope the next President would get rid of the TSA. What a waste of money.

Welcome to my world. Border patrol has operated checkpoints fifty miles inside the border for decades. It's the price of freedom.

Yep. I remember being stopped by the Border Patrol at one of their check points as far back as 1965 in NM between El Paso and Alamogordo going North.

Yeah, that is one of the oldest. They used to have the checkpoints conveniently located at the outskirts of major vegetable growing areas. It was okay for illegals to come pick the veggies but not to move past the veggie belt. Now the checkpoints are on just about every paved road heading north from the border.

The point of the TSA isn't to increase actual security. It's to get you and I gradually conditioned to accept ever increasing intrusive government interference in your everyday life.
I thought they were government provided prostate exams... :hmm:

Absolutely.

The existence of this agency is a disgrace to the American people, and is more reminiscent of North Korea than a nation of liberty. Fascism has come to America.

I wonder how much of their freedom Americans are willing to give up in the name of war on terror, piracy, child porn, etc.

Fucking waste of money. TSA needs to be destroyed right now. Stupid kneejerk reaction to 911.

fascism is just a stepping stone to tyranny or communism . . . . we'll see what happens in 2012

If Paul or Cain simply ran on eliminating the TSA...FTW!

Ron Paul already does advocate getting rid of the TSA.
Actually I think its in his budget plan to get rid of it.
Just one more reason he gets my support.

This is what happens with government, mission creep.
Happens with every aspect of it, powers and roles of agencies, eroding of civil rights (patriot act etc),
erosion of states rights, centralization of power, regulations, new laws, new departments / agencies to keep us "safe and secure" etc

Its a gradual process to slowly turn us into a police state.

what fricken authority does the TSA have to do these searches?

From the "about us" tab on TSAs homepage:

Mission, Vision, and Core Values
The Transportation Security Administration protects the Nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. Learn More »
Our Workforce
A security officer saves a life. Another helps a stranded motorist on the side of the road. Still others help Denver air travelers dig out after three blizzards. Rather than being unique, these are everyday occurrences around TSA. Read More »

"Transportation" can mean just about anything they want it too.

"ensure freedom of movement" ? They must have been laughing when they wrote that, if anything they impede movement.

hehe. Once, in the Hospital, late one night I hear the Nurse come into the room I was in. She wakes up one of my room mates, to give him his sleeping pill. The guy was quite pissed about it, I loled.

Current law says the gov't can search you without a warrant within 100 miles of the US border.
