I shave with a Mach 3 or Fusion razor. Is this allowed in the carry-on bag I will bring on my flight?

Here is what the "blades" category on the website states, I'm still unsure.

Razor-Type Blades - such as box cutters, utility knives, razor blades not in a cartridge, but excluding safety razors. No for Carry On - Yes for baggage.

A little crazy clue and a handle and those blades would be just as dangerous as a box cutter or straight razor.

Of course. That's why all the rules are stupid, and are only there to make people think the government's doing something, and to get rid of all the extra money we have lying around. Almost anything can be made into a weapon with minimal thought and effort.

Wow, I never knew that, I've always thought anything sharp was restricted. Kinda ridiculous they allow them for carry-ons... as if the cartridge shielding can't be circumvented in-flight. /sigh

fyi, airline staff at times are actually more up to date than the tsa in regards as to what is allowed sadly. they get a memo from homeland security, same as the tsa do. shows just how lazy they are at keeping pace with security updates.

Just be advised that a lot of flights aren't allowing any carry-on luggage any more to certain destinations. Flights out of Toronto to the US, you're only allowed diaper bags and small purses, nothing else. It's total BS if you ask me.

the initial ban was due to the fact that some clippers had the built in knife in them, like some souvenir clippers. if you go now, its hit or miss if they allow it, dpeending on the tsa guy in front of you. when i was there, they just didn't bother and banned it totally, since it was too much effort to look at every case individually.

Just sayin... officially, they're allowed... unofficially, some TSA workers are morons so YMMV.

I know seriously...they can make that shit in jail, why would they allow them on planes? do you really need to bring your disposable razor in your carry on?

I'm trying to conceive the difficulty of disassembling a safety razor, plucking out the 3-5 tiny little blades and securing them to a knife-like object well enough to make the resultant "weapon" threatening.

I really cannot, it's gonna break as soon as its used for anything.

Now say shaving a plastic picnic spork into something stabby...

yes.

I had toothpaste taken because it had the weight on it of 4.8g

FL content was 3oz

she told me I cant take 4.8oz on the thing, even though it clearly said g for grams and said dry wt under that.

I typically breeze right through security and have never been searched or had my bag searched. I take a DE razor in my carry-on. The last few times I haven't even removed my notebook for inspection - I keep it padded between shirts in my bag, I don't carry a separate notebook bag when I travel.

I always use a carry-on bag, I quit checking bags when the airlines started charging you an additional $20. I travel light anyway, I can get three days of fresh clothing, toiletries and my notebook in my single bag. Sometimes it gets tight if I bring a second pair of casual shoes. I have never bothered with measuring any of the toiletries I bring, I figure if they decide to search me and decide they aren't allowed then so be it, so far hasn't happened. I have flown at least once per quarter since 2003.

TSA has a job, and it's not my job.

big enough to stab/slice you and slit your throat...

Here's a hint, the freaking plane is made of metal. Just about anything you can tear off could be used as some sort of weapon. If you're that worried take the train...
