The 19-year old was headed home to Chattanooga after treatment for a brain tumor at St. Jude Hospital June 30, 2015.
It's a trip they've made for 17 years.
This time, an unarmed Hannah, set off the metal detector at a security checkpoint
“They wanted to do further scanning, she was reluctant, she didn't understand what they were about to do," said her mother Shirley Cohen.
Cohen told us she tried to tell TSA agents her daughter is partially deaf, blind in one eye, paralyzed, and easily confused, but said she was kept at a distance by police.

lol. Dummies. Lawsuit filed.

TSA will get raped over this one I imagine.

I still haven't found another news feed about it, which is surprising.

Why on earth all these idiotic officers always so brutal and won't listen to a simple explanation?

As is the explanation for every enforcement officer, you scrape bottom you get bits of shit.

Give a weak or stupid person power and this is what you are left with.

Is there no consideration for special needs and guardians?
Surely this isn't such a unique situation that they cannot be prepared and know what to do. Such as NOT separating the parent by force. You let them assist you.

But no... we must manhandle and escalate situations...
TSA implementation is barbaric.

I dunno. The TSA has been accused of lots of shit over the years, nothing serious ever seems to happen. They still hire morons. They pay crap. They dont give them decent training. Policies never improve.

I dont see this getting results.

The article says it was an actual police officer that wouldn't allow the parent to help her child and cops generally go over the top to "control the situation", despite the "situation" being a confused handicapped girl. I know damn well that no pissant TSA agent would get between me and my special needs child or even my children in general. We have flown quite a lot since the TSA has started going batshit crazy and to date neither of my daughters has been groped and so long as I am with them they will not be without using serious force on me first. I'd rather not get on the plane, although there was that absurd case were they demanded the guy who refused and said fuck the flight and was walking out of the airport (way outside of the security zone) go back to the security zone and complete the screening process just so he could leave the airport and not get on a plane.

Wrong Pres for the TSA

He may not have created it but he hasn't exactly done anything to fix the situation. In fact the TSA has actually gotten worse - failing more tests than before. We can blame Bush for the first years but Obama has been in charge for two terms now and they still can't find their own ass with two hands

I don't understand why just not refuse family gate admittance until she consents? It was parents responsibility to get her to comply.

Having said that if want more professional security people you are going to have to pay them. Starting TSA people make a little more then minimum wage.

A little more as in almost double.

Let’s try a TSA screener’s salary. It looks like you start just over $13 dollars an hour but can move up gradually to over $18 by year nine.

Does $13-18 an hour not sound like much? Well, consider the vast benefits package you would likely have. According to USAJOBS’ benefits page, you would be eligible for health insurance, sick leave, paid vacation, retiree health benefits, a 401K, recruitment bonuses, incentive bonuses, relocation bonuses, interagency transfers, employee development programs and more, more, more. Very few private companies offer all of these benefits anymore.
Of course, this article is SEVEN years old. I'm sure things have gotten a lot tighter at the federal government since then.

Remember Pelosi's wisdom: You don't brutalize until you federalize. If we want mentally challenged, partially deaf and blind teen-aged girls to be properly brutalized, then we need to pony up some more money. That will make the exact same animals much more professional.

Sadly it's true...

until

T.-housands
S.-tanding
A.-round

severely injures or kills someone there probably won't be any reform.

But hey at least they're keeping us safe from deadly cancer patients.
