Girlfriend is playing sims 3 w/ world adventures expansion pack and she says after a long while playing the screen goes black and the game crashes and goes back to the desktop. Her rig is as follows
Q9650-3GHz
8GB ram-1066MHz
VelociRaptor HDD
1.2K PSU
GTX285-191.07 nvidia drivers, latest direct x
EVGA 780i Mobo-P08 BIOS

Memtest tested all her ram fine. I am thinking it could be the GPU but also leaning towards the game itself. The game has all the latest updates. Is there anything in the event viewer that I should look for to indicate GPU or the game itself?

Well she's not running the latest graphics drivers for the card. Uninstall the drivers and run driver sweeper then install the latest ones. Does she have W7 or Vista? It'll say if the graphics drivers failed.

She has vista x64. Where would it list the gpu driver failure? I did have her look at the event viewer under the application tab. The description came up with "faulting application sims3launcher.exe". I have the screen shots as well and can forward them.
