.TS HDTV files

Don't know if this is the right section or not, but....

Anybody try and play these on their computer? I was trying to watch a couple of these .TS files and they played, but they skipped or had blocks here and there. Then the player would eventually crash. I got the VL player thing to play them. The box they're on is more than capable of playing these files. I had the files on my USB2 drive, but then moved them to the 250 and they still did the same thing. The specs are:

Athlon64 X2 4200
1GB DDR400
250GB SATA2 HDD
500GB External USB2
ATi Radeon X1900 AIW

Where did you get these transport stream files? Per chance are they 25mbps 1080p files? The decoder has to break the steam apart and decode HD MPEG, so it can be slow. Also consider that the accelerators may not recognize the stream, so you aren't getting any GPU offload. Try changing the stream as HN suggested and that will speed things up. I can play 1080i TS on my system using VLC Player, but I have video editors loaded that can handle TS natively. That can mean I have codecs that support TS in real time.

Simple File joiner Pro to put the ts files in manageable size (can cut up the really big ones supposedly to dvd size files, just be sure after the program is done to right click, hit rename, right arrow, and put .ts at the end of the file name and hit return. Then open the file, associate it to VLC and whamo your done)
Watch with VLC player
Atleast thats what I read googling up .ts files
Where does one find HD TS files? I wouldnt mind trying something like this myself and seeing a pretty picture 😀

Most of the ones I see are in HD video editor forums as samples of this new camera or that new device. Somethings you can find links at hdforindies and dvinfo.net, but it will be 30 second videos to show resolution. Usually, they get downres'ed to 720p in post (edit suite) just to lighten the download/bandwidth rate.
