Trying to Value a GeForce Ti 500

How would this vid card compare to say an integrated solution offered on something like a Dell garden variety computer?

I'd assume the GrForce 3 Ti 500 would still outbench the integrated solution on a cheap mobo about 3X faster???

Am I in the ballpark?

How about price... What would it be worth? Guessing about $30..

If its a newer Dell system, the integrated Intel graphics could be way ahead of the GeForce Ti500 in terms of DX compliance. I believe the GF3 series were DX7? Not sure.
I know the GF4 series were DX8/8.1 compliant. Anyone else?

As far as "horsepower" goes, I would think a Ti500 would be faster than most integrated solutions, but it would depend on the chipset. Tough call.

GF3 = first programmable GPU no? anyway its DX8, uses Pixel and vertex shaders 1 (maybe 1.1) i played UT2004 pretty well at 10x7 on a 64mb GF3 TI200 which is considerably slower in terms of clock speeds than the TI500

id imagine TI500>>>>>integrated crap

oh and even though your doing a price check, which i dont think is allowed, the Ti200 sells for next to nothing on ebay.

My system still has it's original GeF 3 Ti200. I'm pretty sure the GF 3 are DX8 compliant.

At this point, I would not install one of these in a new system, even the most budget. The lack of DX9 compliance is crippling.

I would think even an X300 or 6200 would be preferable, as they'll at least load the latest games (playability is a different issue). My Ti200 won't even load BF2. Although it has played everything up to that I've tried (Brothers in Arms being the next "newest" game I've tried).

ALL GeFORCE 3's ARE DEFINATELY DX-8 CARDS!!!!

The GF3 Ti500 was the best of the GF3 family.

The GF4 family of cards (excluding the GF2-like MX) is nothing but a minor update to the GF3 family.

Whether or not a GF3 Ti500 is better then an on-board solution is totally up to what chipset the on-board solution has.

The GF3Ti500 is a good series for DX8 cards... it would not support any DX9 features however and would run slow on "modern games" if the graphics are not turned down.

Simply compare this knowledge with whatever on-board chipset you would end up with and make the decision based on that... but since you didn't mention the specifics of the on-board chipset, I can't make that call.

the graphics are automatically turned down merely because the gf3 does not support modern features.

to get a good idea, you'd have to force integrated graphics to run the gf3 settings.

a geforce 6200 128 TC seems to less fillrate but more bandwidth, if that tells you anything.

My Onboard ATi xpress200 with onboard x300 video runs about the same as my Ti500 in 3dmark testing. But the edge goes to onboard because it is a DX9 part.

GF3 can save you some ram with its dedicated memory.. but otherwise onboard video runs about the same speed or better with better graphics.
