EDIT: goto my post below on what you will need to do to update to the new bios.

I tried to update the bios of my M6805 lappy with the newer bios that someone posted in the HardOC forums. Whenever I try to update the bios, it gives a message "Cannot flash if Memory Managers <e.g. EMM386> present"

Does anyone know what I need to do to get it to work. I have seen a few posts where people have successfully flashed the new bios. And the bios helped a few things. Even increasing IDE speed, ect.. Hopefully someone will know what I need to do. I even did a format and complete reinstall of XP Pro.

Here's the link for the bios: M680x bios I checked over at hardforums and right now it only seems to fix some minor problems I haven't yet encountered. Might not be worth it until somebody tests to see if PC3200 ram works with the newer bios. Search Hardforums for "M6805 bios" to find the thread. I don't think I can direct link it.

I forgot to say that I was able to sucessfully flash to the updated bios. What you will want to do is download: WinPlash. Then load the program and select the bios file you want to update with. A pretty painless procedure. Hopefully this helps someone.

What does the flash do? Did you notice any benefits?

i flashed my m6805 to the m6809 bios posted above. aside from the blank screen described that gave me a heart attack in the beginning, everything went well. my new bios appears to have been successful.

anyone try adding faster ram yet?

What exactly does the flash change?

EDIT: Just checked mine and it already has the new BIOS (replacement for my original with a cracked hinge). Some stuff is rearranged and there's a different splash screen. About all I could tell.

i was hoping that the new bios would add support for faster ram, so that we could use pc3200 in it without the laptop failing to boot.

i did notice the new splash screen and some other things are re-ordered but i don't see much else myself.
