Trying to understand (bulk) DDR3 chip prices ... how much do they actually cost ?

Hey,

I'm trying to understand how much bulk DDR3 chips actually cost.

Here's an example from http://www.dramexchange.com :

DDR3 4Gb 512Mx8 1600MHz - average price is 2.291 (USD, I assume)

Is that per chip or per 4GB (8 chips) ?

Does the full manufacturing process account for the rest of the price we pay for a 4 GB DIMM ?
 
That's per 4Gb (lowercase b- bit) chip. So multiply that price by 8 for an 4GB DDR3 DIMM. Plus PCB, assembly, and testing costs.
