Trying to troubleshoot XP boot problems

Anyone have any tips for tracking what programs, services, or drivers are asking for network access on bootup, or any other possible solutions? This computer will boot into safe mode with network without crashing, it will boot into windows normally with no network installed without crashing, but booting into windows normally with the nework enabled crashes explorer within 10 seconds of the desktop loading.

The computer is basicly clean as far as i can tell, it belongs to a relative and i have never had to remove any spyware or viruses. I have tried disabling anything in msconfig that i thought could be the culprit and ran a full virus scan from safe mode and found nothing.

Thanks for any input!
