Trying to think of all the big Government Agencies

TallBill

Lifer
I'm still roughly 5 years away from applying, but its pretty much my dream to land a computer science job with a major federal agency. So far I've come up with CIA, FBI, NSA, and ATF. I'm sure there are others though.

Basically in 5 years, my goal will to have been in the Army for 4 years as a Military Policeman. 1 as a reservist, 3 as active duty, with almost 2 years spent overseas. After getting out, I'll finish up my Associates degree quickly, and pick up a computer science degree from somewhere in Illinois.

5 Years isn't really to far to plan ahead is it?

5 years is a good time frame. There are a lot of retirements coming up in the next few years in the federal workforce. You will probably be able to take your pick.

Working a civilian in the federal government is a great job. 🙂 I envy most of the civilians that work in my shop. I THINK most of them are GS7s(?), one is a GS9 or 10.

The Armed services have many slots for civilian personel.

Also, check out Homeland security, State, Commerce.

There is a web site that shows all open Gov jobs and the reqs for it.
