Trying to Set Up Remote Desktop Between Two Comps....

Ok, here's the situation... I'm at school hooked up to LAN running XP Pro... I need to connect to my Mom's computer who is at home who is also running XP Pro, but she is on dial-up.

Her IP changes everytime she connects... When I try to connect to her computer I just put in her current IP and click connect... The problem is that it cannot find her computer. It seems like its looking on the network for the IP address and not through the internet.

We both checked both boxes under the "Remote" tab of My Computer properties, and she made an account for me on her computer.

How do I connect to her computer so I can fix it?

Thanks in advance

yeah i didn't... Do i have to make a connection through the network connections folder? Or should it just work by putting the IP in the Domain box of the Remote Desktop connection screen?

Just launch Remote Desktop Connection (Start->Programs->Accessories->Communications->Remote Desktop Connection) and put the IP where it says "Computer:". There is also help available from there.

oh god, windows networking over 128k broadband is SOOOOO SLOOWWWW... I can't even imagine trying to use it over dial-up.

However, \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx should get you connected, but be prepared to wait five minutes to get a directory listing.

ok thx guys... i was just putting the ip in the domain box instead... and yeah its slow, but i just gotta fix a problem
