trying to set up 2 home comps with ICS....can't get it to work!

Hopefully I will be able to explain this thoroughly. First off, I am trying to network two PC's in the house together to share my broadband internet. I have a DSL connection with Bellsouth. I have a 4 port network hub that I am using. Here are the specs of the two systems:

HOST COMPUTER:

running WinXP Professional
1800+ AthlonXP
512MB DDR PC2100 RAM
an ethernet connection onboard motherboard - used for DSL modem to plug into
extra NIC in PCI slot - used to connect directly to network hub
shared C: and D: drives completely

REMOTE COMPUTER

running WinXP Professional
1.2 GHz Athlon
384 MB PC133 RAM
one NIC in PCI slot - used to connect directly to network hub
shared C: and D: drives completely

First off, I ran the network connection wizard on the host computer. Everything went smoothly throughout. I was connected to the internet while doing the wizard, and set this computer up as the host computer. I also choose my DSL connection as the internet connection to use, as said in the help instructions. It stated if you needed to input a username and password to connect, to choose this one directly. If you were just connected at all times, without needing to connect manually, to then choose the NIC the modem was connected to. So I know that by choosing my actual DSL connection, that was correct.

I then went to the remote computer, and used the WinXP Pro disc as stated, and ran the network wizard on it. I chose it to be connecting to the internet by way of another computer on the network. Went through the wizard, and everything went through ok. While I went through the wizard on this computer, my host computer was running with the DSL connected.

After rebooting and looking through some settings, here is what I come up with. The host computer cannot see the network at all. I go into My Network Places and see NO shared drives, not even the ones on the host computer. I go to the remote computer, and upon going into My Network Places, I see all shared drives on both computers, but upon trying to browse my C: drive on the host computer, it says the network drive is unavailable. Does this also when I go to View Workgroup Computers. My host computer shows up, but won't let me access it.

And as far as the internet sharing goes, here's what happens with it. Upon going into View Network Connections, I see my shared DSL connection. When the DSL is connected on the host computer, it recognizes that it's connected on the remote computer. But it will not access the connection from IE. I can see stats from the connection on the remote computer, like length of connection time and packets sent and received, and I can even disconnect the DSL from the remote computer if I wanted to. But I cannot connect from the remote computer.

If you need any more information at all, let me know. I would really like to get this working soon. Thanks for any help you can give!

Here you can find what is considered the encyclopedia of ICS.

Windows XP Internet Connection Sharing

However the combo of DSL (probably with PPPOE), a hub, and ICS is a constant source of trouble, you much better off getting a Cable/DSL Routers. There are few of them for sale this week for less then $50.

Well, I read through the link, but it pretty much just described the process I had already been through. So are you telling me that pretty much if it doesn't work, it doesn't work? Are there any settings I can change?
