Trying to sell my 40D, would like to get a compact...

I'm not sure what to get. I need to sell my 40D, but I'd like to at least get a nice compact that the wife can use, since she has no desire in trying to use or figure out how to use the 40D. I have an A80 that I got for cheap, so that will be mine for awhile. But, I hate to sell a 40D and not get at least a newer Point and Shoot for her.

Budget? A Canon S90/95 will at least retain some nice creative options and advanced features, while remaining nice and compact. I'd expect the 40D should cover that and then some.

Budget would be around $300. I really like the new S95 since it has HD Video as well. I could always sell my old Mini DV camcorder I have to help pay for it.

I have a MF Helios left. Already sold my Tamron 17-50mm

Ok I'm really liking the S95. But then there's the SX130 and the SD-4500. All so close in features and price. The SD-4500 even has 1080 Video. How do I choose....geeze. I haven't looked at point and shoots since 2003.

I'd go with a Panasonic LX3 or LX5 for that price range, unless your main focus is the size of the S95.

It has a slightly wider range than the S90 or S95, and better ISO sensitivity to boot. Plus, it's a point and shoot that gives you the option to manual focus, something I love!

Sorry, but with the HS system, I'm thinking the S95 is going to be the winner in low light performance.

Look at those ISO 3200 crops!

I am in no way a camera expert, or even novice for that matter but we recently had to buy a new P&S. Looked at the Canon S95, SX210IS as well as Panny ZS7 and Sony HX5.

Ended up going with the ZS7 due to price/quality ratio and had good comparisons with the others. $250 at B&H photo.

You might want to also look at the Nikon S8100 but it's not out quite yet.
