I was wondering what you guys use to compare phones? What I would love to have is a source that has all the cell phones listed and where you can narrow down the search by selecting cpu speed or screen size etc. Since im living oversees I dont need to worry about which service provider etc i use, and it is probably another reason why I feel so left behind in technology and have a hard time telling one phone apart from another. I know it may sound like im a bit lazy and dont want to do my own searching but in all reality im in the back parts of know where and truly do have limited access to what phones are available to view,

However from what ive seen so far it would appear that i like the under 4" screens. The reason being that I can easily type text messages with one hand while with a 4" screen or higher it seems to be a bit awkward. I dont know if you just get used to this or if it remains semi awkward no matter how long you use it?

CPU speed at 1 ghz should be more than sufficiant and screen resolution the higher the better along with being able to clearly see the screen while in sunlight.

I dont need the latest and greatest as I rarely play any video games so if anyone has any pointers on which phone or which website that could help narrow down my search i would greatly appreciate it.

If all you care about is CPU speed, just get the fastest Android phone there is this week. Don't wait another week though, because they will be right along behind it with another carbon copy with a 2% jump in power making all others 'lame'.

seriously lets try to keep this constructive. If cpu speed isnt a good indication of phone speed than feel free to enlighten me. Im not trying to pretend i understand what makes one phone better than another but figured cpu speed would be a good indicator.

I live in china. So for all intents and purposes we should have most if not all the phones the USA would carry. I realize in the end that I will need to make my decision basd on what the current pricing is over here but I figured you all could point me in a good direction. As it stands the desire s looks to be fairly nice as I like the way it looks for the most partt, however its not available for preview here.

China is strange in the fact that they section off areas of the vountry in that certain parts will be the first to get new tech while others will essentially wait until the new tech becomes old and then they begin to market it in a new section as new tech and so on. From my understanding we are the last to receive the new tech.

cdma phones also work over here not to mention that alot of phones are made to support both. Rarely do i see a phone that is linked to a certain carrier.

Well, the hottest phone out right now is the samsung galaxy s2, at least that's what I am waiting for. But its 4.3 inch. You should see if you can see a display model. This phone is really slim and manufacturers are cutting the bezel slimmer now so the screen goes all the way to the edge.

If you really want under 4in, then iphone 4 or the LG Optimus 2x (aka the g2x in the USA). Although the lg g2x is having some quality issues here at least. Not sure if the unbranded optimus 2x is the same. Or maybe look into the google (samsung) nexus s it is 4in.

As for a website, not sure how good this one is, but the only one I know with that kind of search feature is phonearena.com click the finder on the left side.

Also, what's important to you? Do you want android vs windows phone 7? Battery life? Keyboard?

ImDon: I love the all touch screen phones, no keyboard, just the virtual one on the screen. Win7 or android are both good, i dont think that there is too much of a difference between the two systems, they both work good so thats enough for me.
For me the ability to type things out quickly is the number one priority but I am also helping a friend pick a phone out out and she loves taking pics and having a phone that can take good pics would really make her happy. So for her I think the best phone for her is the desire s (thanks kuban for your response). She played with the desire and and really liked it. I researched it a little and found out there is also the desire s and recommended that to her. Mainly because i and her think it looks better than the original desire, and for her that is an important aspect. Of course there is also a few other things that i think she would like alot such as the front side camera etc. So I think that this phone is more than less decided on.

I did get to play with the lg optimus 2x and thought that it was quite quick in its response time, which i liked alot, but didnt like the feel of it, but I also didnt really care a whole lot for the sgs2. I probably would like it more if it didnt cost nearly twice the price as the lg optimus 2x. ANd I prob would like the lg more if I didnt constantly read about how lg has terrible support and is very slow in releasing updates. Its funny how these little issues can influence ones decision.

We usually have angry pissing contests and call each other names.
Then we buy the prettiest one we can afford.

What about the Nexus S?

I understand your worries about LG. They just started making high-end smartphones and their QA is not that great, yet.
