I'm trying to select a new system? I can't go over $1500. What would be my best set up? I'm will be getting a ATI 9800 Pro for sure. What's the best cpu do get right now for AMD. Should I get the 2500 Barton and oc it or should I get a 2800 or higher. And what would be the best memory and amount. I've never oc'ed before. Is it dangerous and how much cooling do I need. The system comes with stock cooling. I want this system to last.

$1500 is a LOT for a system. I guess you're not on a very tight budget. You can spend a lot less and get about the same speed.

btw, are you building yourself?

XG6000 Gamer Ultra SE looks very promising, just change the mobo to a Nf7-s and you set, still under $1350. not bad for a gig of ddr400, 2700+, 9800 pro

I was gonna say the same thing...hahah.
You can get a top of the line system at 3ghz for about $450 if you wanted to spend the bare minimum. 1500 you could get some tight stuff. :) I am in the same boat also, looking to do a much needed upgrade. Still doing research myself and trying to figure out what to get. Thought it was gonna be easy before I found out that they all seem to have ram timing issues if they are too low. So trying to figure out what mobo and ram to get, cpu is gonna be 2.8C. Prolly pick that up at staples for like $235 or so. Then decide soon what ram and cpu to get. Thinking P4P800 deluxe and Kingston Hyperx 3200/kit of 256x2.
