Trying to repair headphones

Ok I have these really nice pair of headhpones. I was in a big rush one day and I though them in the car quick. Little did I know that the cord was stuck in the door...so I drove 50 miles on the high way with the cord dragging on the ground....Needless to say..the connector is quite dead..

I went to radioshack to get a new connector and I am trying to put it together. I am no good with my hands but I thought I would give it a try. Its a screwless stereo plug.

I just dont know which wires go where. There is one short connector..one longer..and one longest.

Iknow red equals right, green equals left, and black equals ground..

any help??
