I have a used 2000 Accord.. i was excited because my CD-C -> Aux converter came in today.

(hooking iPod up into car)

I was basically following these directions http://www2.et.byu.edu:8080/~jtb8/iPod/ipod_install.html to remove my stereo out.

it turns out all THREE screws are stripped.. i tried an electric screw driver but no luck.. what should i do? just take it to the dealership and pay a labor charge for something i should have been able to do myself easily? i hate screws

what does it do?

oh yeah i know how to use a screwdriver.. i had my friend help w/ is extremely experienced in carstereos.. 😛

Don't use electric or battery power anything to remove screws, most of the time, the damn things don't have enough torque, and the space in the car won't allow you to apply proper alignment to the screw heads. Try to carefully grip it with a plyer and twist it out, that is if you can't drill or saw the heads off.

I had the same prob in my 02 Accord. Then I looked closer and realized I should be using socket wrench instead of screw driver and everything was easy from there.

SweetSweetLeroyBrown is right. Goto any good hardware store and explain your problem. I think it's called a tap-out bit. It is a tiny hard screw that digs into your screw the reverse direction and once it bits good it pulls your screw out with it. Should cost you less than $3.

Or I can loan you mine if you are VERY close to Annapolis MD! 🙂

been there, done that, it's not as easy as it sounds but it can be done. Don't get frustrated, it will work out.
