They made a bunch of changes at my university that hardcodes when a student can register. If you're a senior, you get priority over registration based on how many credit hours you require to graduate. Makes sense....however, for my wife she's SOL as far as the system is concerned. She needs 4 classes to get into a medschool program and has already graduated with her undergrad...she just needs to take these pre-reqs before May.

Registration started today, but she can't register for 2 weeks and there are only like 45 slots in these classes. So what did I do? I registered for the classes since I'm 2 classes from finishing my MBA. :D Now all we have to do is wait for her time to come up, unregister me and register her. What time of night should we attempt to make the switch? 2am, 4am, 5am? I figure those times will have the least traffic so no one will be able to register and steal the seats I'm saving for her in the classes. What do you think?

4AM is when you should make the switch. What you're doing is a classic trick. If you do it within a minute of each other you should be fine anytime after 2AM anyway.

Yep... as Baked said.

You'll be SOL if the class closes to regular registration and switches to waitlist mode.

Then the waitlist priority list gets the spots that are abandoned.

This is the way it is for the UC system in CA, not sure how it works over there in TN.

Too bad, happened to a couple of my friends too actually, there's nothing you can do and no ass you can kiss. Just gonna have to hope for the best.

I guess it depends on the school. When I was in school, doing what the OP suggests wasn't possible, it was a waiting list. I guess not every school would have to do it this way though.

OP, can't your wife just go see an academic advisor? They should be able to place her in any classes she needs, regardless of her scheduling time.

I'm not sure exactly either. I just know that she's going to fill out closed class forms in advance so she'll hopefully be 1st on the waiting list before the classes even close. We've already contacted the graduate office and given them the list of classes...hopefully my way will work, otherwise...we'll be relying on plan B.

There are actually 2 different asses to kiss for each class. The registrar and the professor of the class. They can increase the number of slots in the class after the class closes....or as one prof already did, decrease the number by one in advance and add her as soon as she can be added. :D

They changed the system this semester. They took the advisor override on the registration time out of the system. It's an official University policy that once you're classified to register at a specific time/date, that's the earliest you can register.
